Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fabric by subjecting fabric comprising conjugate fibers containing a water-insoluble polyethylene oxide modified product to water repellent finishing.
SOLUTION: First, a sheath-core type conjugate multifilament yarn is formed by conjugate melt spinning so that the core component represents a water- insoluble polyethylene oxide modified product or a blend prepared by dryblending 20 pts.wt. of the modified product with 80 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin good in fiber formability such as nylon 6 and the sheath component represents the above nylon 6. Next, plain fabric is made by using the conjugate multifilament yarns as both warps and wefts, and scoured, preset and dyed, and then padded with a fluorine-based water repellent solution followed by squeezing and preliminary drying and then heat treatment, thus forming a water- repellent resin film on the surface of the fabric.
