The apparatus includes a printing part 2 stacking a transfer paper r containing a substrate B and a transfer layer containing dye and sizing agent to a cloth R and carries out heat treatment or pressure and heat treatment and transfers the transfer layer of the transfer paper r to the cloth R, a fixing part 3 provided on the downstream side of the printing part 2 and fixes the dye of the transfer layer to the cloth R through steamy heat treatment and a substrate recovering section 7 arranged on the downstream side of the fixing part 3, and separating and recovering the substrate B of the transfer paper r in a laminate L of the cloth R and the transfer paper r. Wet means for wetting the sizing agent contained in the transfer layer is established between the fixing part 3 and the substrate recovering section 7.
