Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new-type therapeutic agent for hypertension capable of significantly suppressing the vasopressor action by using an antagonistic substance against hydroxyandrost-dione as an active component.
CONSTITUTION: The objective therapeutic agent contains an antagonistic substance against 19-hydroxyandrost-4-ene-3,17-dione [preferably a compound of formula I (R1 is H, mercapto, acylthio or alkoxydithiocarboxy; R2 is H, mercapto or acyl; X is carbonyl or group of formula II)] as an active component. Preferable dose of the substance for adult is 50-1,000mg/day. Among the compounds of formula I, the steroid compounds of formula III (R3 is mercapto, acylthio or alkoxydithiocarboxy) are novel substances.
