Abstract:
PURPOSE: To efficiently transmit torque by composing of a first coil with torque cable wound toward the first angler direction, and the second coil with a torque cable concentrically wound around the circumference of the first coil and toward a symmetrical angler direction. CONSTITUTION: The end of a sleeve 50 of a catheter 10 for treating the arteriorstenoisis and the like provides a balloon 64, the end segment 32 of the sleeve 50 is operated by a torque cable 12 inserted into the internal cavity of a patient's body through a wire 24 and a spring guide 30. This torque cable 12 is composed of the three layers of the first coil 14 wound by the first angle for the longitudinal axis of the catheter, the second coil 16 wound around the first coil 14 by the second angle of opposing direction against the first coil and the third coil 18 wound around the second coil 16 by opposing direction against the second coil 16. Thus, the transmission of the torque can be efficiently carried out while sufficiently maintaining the flexion of the torque cable 12.
