To provide a thermal decomposition device and a thermal decomposition method capable of supplying a resin safely and stably with a small inert gas using amount, into a decomposition tank in which thermal decomposition of the resin is performed on a fluidized bed in the inert gas atmosphere.
A resin supply part for supplying the resin into the decomposition tank 1 in which thermal decomposition of the resin is performed includes a first hopper 4, a second hopper 5, a screw conveyor 6 whose outlet side is connected to the decomposition tank, a first pipe 7, a second pipe 8, a first resin supply control mechanism 11 installed on the first pipe 7, and a second resin supply control mechanism 11' installed on the second pipe 8. Each resin supply control mechanism 11, 11' is constituted of valves 12, 12' capable of closing airtightly the pipes 7, 8; and nozzle members 13, 13' arranged on the upstream of each valve 12, 12', and having each inert gas flow pass for supplying inert gas from the outside of the pipes 7, 8 and blowing out the inert gas to the downstream direction of the pipes 7, 8.
