By inputting a group of input data on the structure temperature of the machine tool and the ambient temperature of the machine tool or the like, outputting the thermal displacement amount of the machine tool at that time, and giving input data and teacher data to the neutral network containing a non-linear function between the input and the output, the thermal displacement correction method comprises a procedure in which relation between the group of the input data and the thermal displacement amount is made to learn, a procedure to calculate the relational expression between the group of the input data and the thermal displacement amount from the leaned neutral network, a thermal displacement amount calculation procedure to calculate the thermal displacement amount by the relational expression from the group of the input data, and a procedure to correct the position of each movable part of the machine tool by the thermal displacement amount calculated by the thermal displacement amount calculation procedure.
