Abstract:
To sufficiently increase power generation output, and to enable a power increase operation to be easily performed so that the flow rate of steam passing through a steam turbine as a working medium is equal to or less than a permissible upper limit value.SOLUTION: A thermal power plant according to the embodiment comprises a feed water heating unit heating water condensed in a condenser with steam extracted from a steam turbine as a heating medium, and a boiler that generates steam by heating water which has been heated by the feed water heating unit. The feed water heating unit comprises a plurality of feedwater heaters to which the heating medium is supplied via bleed throttle valves. The thermal power plant of the embodiment further comprises a control device that, when a power increase operation is performed for increase the power output of a generator in detection of the a decrease in the system frequency in the power system, controls the operation of reducing the opening degrees of the plurality of bleeding throttle valves based on power output of the generator upon detection of the decrease in the system frequency.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
