Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal protector that can prevent the danger of carbonizing to catching fire due to arc that is caused when opening and closing the contact, without making the size bigger.
SOLUTION: The thermal protector comprises a base board 1, a bimetal 5 that is installed on the base board 1 and actions at a certain temperature, a contact switch part 4 that opens and closes contact by the action of the bimetal 5 installed on the base board 1, a first terminal 2 that is connected to one of this contact switch part 4, and a second terminal 3 that is connected to the other of the contact switch part 4 through an electric line part 20 that is provided side by side with the contact switch part 4. The base board 1 is provided with an insulating rib 23 between the contact switch part 4 and the electric line part 20 for keeping a surface distance between the contact switch part 4 and the electric line part 20, and is, further, formed with a hole 26 for extending the surface distance, at the vicinity of the insulating rib 23 of the base board 1.
