A thermal recording material has a constitution wherein a thermal coloring layer constituted mainly of a normally colorless or light-colored coloring compound, a color-developing compound capable of developing the color of the coloring compound in heating and a sensitizer is provided on a substrate. The thermal recording material coloring in red contains a compound expressed by Formula (1) (wherein R1 and R2 denote a 6 or lower C alkyl) as the coloring compound and a 1,2-diphenoxymethylbenzene as the sensitizer.
