The thermal recording material is made by providing a thermal recording layer colored by heat on a supporting body, and further providing a protective layer including a resin emulsion (A) as a main component on the thermal recording layer. In the thermal recording material, a copolymerized resin (d) constituting the resin emulsion (A) has a solubility parameter (an SP value) of 21.5 [MJ/m3] or more, and includes 3-25 wt.% of an unsaturated carboxylic acid based on 100 wt.% of the copolymerized resin (d) and 0.1-15 wt.% of a radical polymerizable unsaturated monomer having a silyl group based on 100 wt.% of the copolymerized resin (d).
