PURPOSE: To obtain a sharp color image excellent in fastness by a dye donating layer containing a thermal transfer dye represented by a specific general formula on a support.
CONSTITUTION: In a thermal transfer dye donating material wherein a dye donating layer containing a thermal transfer dye is provided on a support, the dye donating layer contains the thermal transfer dye represented by formula 1 (wherein R1 and R2 are respectively an aliphatic group or an aromatic group, R3 is an aromatic group, Ar is an aromatic group having an amino group or a hydroxyl group at its para-position and R1 and R2 may be combined to form a ring). When transfer is performed to an image receiving material using this thermal transfer dye donating material, a sharp color image excellent in fastness can be obtained.
