PURPOSE: To variously change a color phase by providing temp. discriminating function to a transfer image and to eliminate the necessity preliminarily printing recording paper to be transferred black by applying an ink layer which is composed of a mixture consisting of a microcapsule encapsulating several kinds of liquid crystals having a property wherein a color changes reversibly by temp. and different in the combination of color forming temp. and a color phase and a chemical structure and a carbon powder by a transparent resin not melted by heating and a thermoplastic resin on a sheet base material.
CONSTITUTION: An ink layer 22 constituted of a mixture consisting of a microcapsule 23 which is prepared by encapsulating several kinds of liquid crystals 32 having a property wherein a color changes reversibly by temp. and different in the combination of color forming temp. and a color phase and a chemical structure and a carbon powder 33 by a transparent resin 31 not melted by heating and a thermoplastic resin 24 is applied to a sheet base material 21. This thermal transfer ink sheet 20 is mounted on recording paper 13 so that the surface of the ink layer 22 is opposed to the recording paper 23 and pressed by a thermal head 14 to perform transfer recording.
