PURPOSE: To reduce the irregularity of a dot size and to obtain a high quality image, by providing many kinds of microcapsules based on different thermoplastic resins and having different melting points on a support and containing liquid or heat-meltable ink in said microcapsules.
CONSTITUTION: Two kinds of a high m.p. microcapsule 1 based on a high m.p. thermoplastic resin and a low m.p. microcapsule 3 based on a low m.p. thermoplastic resin are used and high density ink is sealed in the high m.p. microcapsule 1 while low density ink is sealed in the low m.p. microcapsule 3 and both microcapsules are fixed on a support 5 by an adhesive layer 6 made of a high m.p. resin in such a state that both microcapsules 1, 3 are partially exposed. Each of the microcapsules 1, 3 is a spherical capsule with a diameter of about 6μm and both of them are alternately and uniformly dispersed on the support 5. If the thermal transfer material using plural kinds of the above mentioned microcapsules having different melting points is used, ink can be allowed to flow out at every m.p. and, therefore, recording different in a density level is enabled.
