To execute printing of a clear image on various kinds of printing papers.
This thermal transfer printer comprises a foundation printing time setting section 28 for setting a number of times of foundation printing and a control section 25 for controlling the foundation printing to execute the number of times of the printing set by the foundation printing time setting section 28. As the number of times of the foundation printing is set, a clear image is printed on each of various kinds of papers.
