Title:
THERMAL TRANSFER RECORDING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04166370
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To use an ink sheet accurately, certainly and effectively and to simplify a feed mechanism by using an endless ink sheet formed from an ink sheet coated with meltable or sublimable inks of two or more colors in face sequence.

CONSTITUTION: Receiving paper 2 is wound around a platen roller 4 by a paper feed means and continuously or intermittently driven at speed Vp at the time of printing. An ink sheet 1 is stretched between a drive roller 5 and an auxiliary roller 6 and driven at speed Vi during printing by the drive roller 5. A receiving paper guide roller 10 increases the winding angle of the receiving paper 2 to the platen roller 4 to prevent the slip between both of them. A tension roller 11 applies tension to the ink sheet 1 by a pressure mechanism 12 to prevent the slip between the drive roller 5 and the ink sheet 1. A thermal head 3 is pressed by a pressure spring 16 and a heating element is selectively heated to transfer the ink on the ink sheet 1 to the receiving paper 2 by melting or sublimation to form an image. Therefore, the capstan roller of an ink sheet feed system becomes unnecessary and constitution becomes simple.
