PURPOSE: To obtain good printing even on low smoothness paper, by using the title recording material formed by laminating a release layer consisting of a polyamide resin and a release agent, a coloring layer consisting of a thermoplastic resin, a thermally active adhesiveness imparting agent and a colorant and a surface layer composed of a thermoplastic resin to the single surface of a base material in this order.
CONSTITUTION: This thermal transfer recording material is a laminate wherein a thermal transfer ink layer having a three-layered structure is provided to the single surface of a base material and said ink layer consists of a release layer (A) consisting of a polyamide resin and a release agent contacted with the base material, a coloring layer (B) consisting of a thermoplastic resin with a softening temp. of 60W120°C, a thermally active adhesiveness imparting agent and a colorant and a surface layer (C) consisting of a thermoplastic resin with a softening temp. of 60W120°C and contacted with the surface of recording paper in use and these layers (A), (B), (C) are laminated to the single surface of the base material in this order. Since this recording material is subjected to transfer recording by applying heat to the base material having the thermal transfer ink layer provided to the single surface thereof from the other surface thereof, a heat resistance material is pref. as the base material. This recording material has high mechanical strength, generates no blocking or breakage, is easy to handle and can inexpensively impart a recording image having high image density and high resolving power at a high speed.
