PURPOSE: To prevent the discoloration of a printing image, by providing a heat-meltable ink layer containing a fluorescent substance and a heat-meltable ink layer containing a colorant and concealing extender pigment on a heat resistant support in succession or successively providing a heat-meltable ink layer containing the colorant and a heat-meltable ink layer containing the concealing extender pigment thereon.
CONSTITUTION: A thermal transfer recording medium is formed by successively providing a heat-meltable ink layer containing a fluorescent substance 2 and a heat-meltable ink layer 6 containing a colorant 4 and concealing extender pigment 5 on a heat resistant support 1 or successively providing a heat-meltable ink layer 7 containing the colorant 4 and a heat-meltable ink layer 8 containing the concealing extender pigment 5 thereon. A wax and resin binder 9 fixes the fluorescent substance 2, colorant 4 and concealing extender pigment 5. In this thermal transfer recording medium, by making the ink layer 3 containing the colorant 4 in the recording layer optically opaque by the concealing extender pigment 5, the discoloration of a printing image is prevented while sufficient fluorescent intensity is kept without lowering a thermal transfer characteristic.
