Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain water-insoluble superabsorbent materials with improved absorbency under an applied load by heat-treating the superabsorbent material under a specific thermal condition.
CONSTITUTION: A superabsorbent material is heated for a sufficient period of time to increase the absorbency when a load in applied for 2 minutes by about 1 g per gram of the superabsorbent material, e.g. at about 125°C or above. For example, the treatment condition such as a temperature of about 140 to about 210°C and a period of about 5 minutes to about 60 minutes are preferable.
