Abstract:

To provide a method for recovering useful metallic components contained in waste generated in abundance in the aluminum industry and the semiconductor industry.

In this epochal refining method, waste is charged to the inside of a metallic hollow body 1 together with thermite reaction components composed of strongly reducible elements and metallic oxide, the same is fired by a burner 3 while centrifugal force is applied to cause thermite reaction, and a metallic layer and an oxide layer produced by the reaction in the hollow body are separated. Even without using fuel such as coal, by the use of aluminum and silicon present as waste as fuel similarly to coal, the inexpensive operation of the metal refining process is made possible.
