Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the operation and sustention of breaking, miniaturization at a low cost by forming contacts connected to and disconnected from each other by the displacement of a thermally-actuated body between a first and second terminals, by forming a heat-generating resistor between the first and a third terminals, and by carrying a current to the heat-generating resistor through the third terminal to displace the thermally-actuated body by its heat generation.
SOLUTION: In this thermo-sensitive breaker S, when an abnormal load current flows between terminals 2, 9, a moving contact 6 is disconnected from a fixed contact 3 by the reversing operation of a bimetal 7 due to the heat generation of a moving plate 5, so that conduction between the terminals 2, 9 is broken. When a heat- generating current is fed from a terminal 10 as external information, a heat-generating resistor 8 generates heat and reverses the bimetal 7, so that the moving contact 6 is separated from the fixed contact 3. When the feeding of the heat-generating current is continued, the moving contact 6 and the fixed contact 3 keep an opened state, and a load current is completely stopped because there is no parallel connection of the resistor. Thereby, an extremely excellent breaking property and the sustention of a breaking state can be realized.
