Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermochromic color-memory near-infrared-absorbing compsn. which changes its color while showing a hysteresis width in a specified temp. range and which can memorize the color tone and absorption wavelength exhibited in the temp. range not higher than the lower-side trigger temp. and those exhibited in the temp. range not lower than the higher-side trigger temp. interchangeably in the temp. range between the lower-side and higher-side trigger temps. by using an electron-donating near-infrared-absorbing org. compd., an electron-accepting compd., and a reaction medium as the essential ingredients.
SOLUTION: The temp. range wherein the color change occurs with a hysteresis width is 5-80°C. The electron-accepting compd. is selected from among phenolic hydroxyl compds. and metal salts thereof, metal salts of arom. carboxylic acids, 2-5C aliph. carboxylic acids and metal salts thereof, acidic phosphoric esters and metal salts thereof, 1,2,3-triazole and its derivs., and 2-5C halohydrins and its derivs. The reaction medium determines the starting temp. of the color reaction and is selected from among alcohols, esters, and ketones.
