To provide a thermoelectric conversion element having a superior performance index, and a method of manufacturing the thermoelectric conversion element.
This thermoelectric conversion element comprises: a thermoelectric conversion material consisting of a metal or an alloy; and a distributed material which is distributed in the thermoelectric conversion material and consists of the metal or the alloy, which is a stable phase connected with a conjugate line of a state diagram to the metal or the alloy.
