Title:
THERMOELECTRIC CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3787625
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly convert heat energy into electric energy without causing a pressure difference between the high temperature side and the low temperature side of an electrolyte.
SOLUTION: In a container 107 which forms a sealed space, a solid electrolyte 101 composed of a β" alumina is brought into contact with sodium 102 connected with a negative electrode 109 on the low temperature side, and the solid electrolyte 101 is brought into contact with a porous electrode 103 connected with a positive terminal 108 at the high temperature side. On the low temperature side, the reaction of Na→Na++e- occurs at an interface between the solid electrolyte 101 and the sodium 102. On the high temperature side, the reaction of Na++e-→Na occurs at an interface between the solid electrolyte 101 and the porous electrode 103, power generation is performed, and power is supplied to a load 106.
