To provide a thermal power generation device having high power generation characteristics.
The thermal power generation device includes first and second electrodes 11, 12, and a laminate which is formed by being laminated so that a PbTe layer 15 is sandwiched between a first metal layer 13 comprising metal 16 and an electric insulator 17, and a second metal layer 14. In the thermal power generation device, a connection surface formed of the metal 16 and the electric insulator 17 inclines to an opposing direction X of the first and second electrodes 11, 12. In this case, a direction Y in which a temperature difference is applied becomes vertical to the opposing direction X of the electrodes, thus achieving high power generation characteristics.
