Title:
THERMOPLASTIC FLUOROELASTOMER PRODUCED BY GRAFT COPOLYMERIZATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3279750
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a fluorine-contg. graft polymer moldable and usable without necessity of vulcanization at all, which is a segmented thermoplastic elastomer, by forming it from a specified uncrosslinked fluorine-contg. copolymer grafted with a specified fluorine-contg. monomer.
CONSTITUTION: The fluoroelastomer is formed out of a rubber-like (Tg <0°C), uncrosslinked fluorine-contg. copolymer (for example, a copolymer obtained from vinylidene fluoride, hexafluororpropene and triallyl isocyanurate) having double bonds as the graft base onto which is grafted a fluorine-contg. monomer (e.g. vinylidene fluoride) that gives an at least partly crystalline polymer. The elastomer can be produced by preparing the rubber-like uncrosslinked copolymer preferably under an elevated pressure at a temp. of about -15 to 120°C by radical polymerization in soln., suspension or emulsion, and grafting thereon the beforementioned monomer to proceed graft reaction to the rubber-like copolymer by radical soln., suspension or emulsion under elevated pressure at the beforementioned temp.
