Title:
THERMOPLASTIC MOLDING MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3247218
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject material having excellent shock resistance by anionically polymerizing a specific block copolymer, then polymerizing an aromatic vinyl compound in the presence of the block copolymer and closing the active chain ends.
CONSTITUTION: The objective material comprising from 80 to 50 wt.% hard matrix of an anionically polymerized aromatic vinyl compound and from 20 to 50 wt.% soft phase uniformly distributed in the hard matrix, (the percentages being based in each case on the sum of the hard matrix and the soft phase) is obtained by anionically polymerizing a rubber-elastic block copolymer based on an aromatic vinyl compound and on an alkadiene in a weight ratio of 5.95 to 55/45 to the perfect conversion rate, if desired, masking the active chain ends and polymerizing the aromatic vinyl compound in the presence of the block copolymer with renewed addition of an anionic initiator in a state that is stirring the reactants and finally masking the active chain ends.
