PURPOSE: To provide the title compsn. which has excellent processability and resistance to impact and heat and gives molded products having no anisotropy, consisting of a polyphenylene ether resin, a specified modified styrene resin and an impact modifier.
CONSTITUTION: A monomer mixture of 70% (by weight; the same applies hereinbelow) arom. vinyl compd. and not more than 30% other copolymerizable vinyl compd. is copolymerized with 0.01W30% unsaturated compd. having an epoxy group (e.g., glycidyl acrylate) and/or compd. having a carboxyl group (e.g., acrylic acid) to obtain an epoxy group- and/or carboxyl group-modified styrene resin (B) having an epoxy group and/or carboxyl group content of 5×102W3×106g/equivalent. 5W95% polyphenylene ether resin (A) is melt-kneaded with 95W5% component B, 0W90% impact modifier (C) (e.g., polybutadiene rubber) and optionally, 0.1W10% metallic soap and/or fatty acid amide compd. (D) at 200W350°C.
