Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermosetting composition capable of developing excellent mechanical properties or the like, by including each specific oxetane ring-bearing compound(s), oxirane ring-bearing compound(s) and carboxyl group-bearing compound(s).
SOLUTION: This composition comprises (A) at least one compound bearing 1-4 oxetane ring(s), (B) at least one compound bearing one or more oxirane rings, and (C) at least one compound bearing two or more carboxyl groups. In the presence or absence of a quaternary onium salt as catalyst, the above composition is heated to a temperature higher than the melting point of the compound lowest in melting point among the above compounds, but ≤300°C in a solventless state, or to 50-300°C in a reaction solvent to obtain an intermolecularly crosslinked insoluble and infusible thermoset product having three-dimensional network structure in a relatively short time. This cured product thus obtained is highly hopeful in the use as an alternative to epoxy resins.
