Title:
THERMOSTAT FOR WATER-COOLED ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6073179
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent a failure from occurring even if a cooling liquid is over- heated by closing a valve with a bias spring when the cooling liquid is at a low temperature and opening the valve with a profile memory alloy spring at a low temperature. CONSTITUTION:Two valves 39A, 39B are rotated around a shaft 35 while being slided below a flange 31 to open or close two valve holes 33A, 33B simultaneously. When a cooling liquid is at a predetermined temperature or lower, the spring force of a bias spring 55 is stronger than that of a profile memory alloy spring 49, and the valves 39A, 39B are kept closed. When the temperature of the cooling liquid is increased to exceed the predetermined temperature, the profile memory alloy spring 49 is transformed into a high-temperature phase, and its spring force is made stronger than that of the bias spring, thus the valves 39A, 39B are opened.
