Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable absolute angles to be accurately detected without needing alignment in the initial state and to accomplish this purpose with equipment reduced in size and in cost.SOLUTION: An absolute angle detecting system equipped with a steering shaft that is linked to an active caster and determines the direction of the active caster, a steering gear 10 that transmits driving force supplied from the outside to the steering shaft, multiple sensor gears 13 and 17 engaged with the steering gear 10, each so provided with a different number of teeth as to make the number of teeth of the steering gear 10 the greatest common multiple, and potentiometers 5 and 7 so disposed as to match the sensor gears 13 and 17, respectively, and to detect the revolutions of the sensor gears 13 and 17 detects the absolute angle of the active caster on the basis of the difference between the voltages outputted by the potentiometers 5 and 7.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
