PURPOSE: To increase the area of a varister film as well as to increase the proof strength against energy by a method wherein a terminal electrode is provided on the side face of a substrate.
CONSTITUTION: The title thick film varister protects electronic apparatus from abnormal voltage. The varister film 12 consisting of a varistor layer and a pair of electrodes 13a and 13b is provided on the upper surface of a substrate 11, and the terminal electrodes 4a and 4b, to be connected to the electrodes 13a and 13b, are provided on the side face of the substrate 11. Consequently, as the area on which the terminal electrodes are positioned can be used as a varister film, the area of the varister film can be enlarged, and the thick film varister having the larger proof strength against energy can be obtained.
