To provide a thick plate pickling device where pickling for thick steel plates having a plate thickness of ≥9 mm can be continuously performed at a constant rate.
Free loops 5 are provided on either or both of the inlet side and the outlet side in a pickling tank 1 where each coiled thick steel plate is pickled while the plate is passed through without performing welding to the space between the edge parts. Each free loop 5 has a size to store the thick steel plates by the degree equivalent to handling time at the time of changing to the next coil in a state where they are hang down by gravity. When the thick steel plates matched to handling time are stored in each free loop 5, the yield ratio of the thick steel plate in the lowest point is controlled to ≤75%.
