PURPOSE: To exactly make measurement and spectrophotometry by a densitometer and to facilitate a thickening operation by moving an eluate in the thickness direction of a thin-layer plate for which a supporting material is not used and thickening a fraction sample on the front surface side.
CONSTITUTION: A porous substrate 10 is placed in a vessel 8 and the thin-layer plate 12, such as plate of thin-layer chromatography or paper of paper chromatography, on which a sample is developed is placed on the porous substrate 10. The eluate 14 is put into the vessel 8 down to the position where the porous substrate 10 is partly immersed in the eluate. The eluate 24 is moved in this state to the front surface side through the porous substrate 10 by capillarity and thickens 16 the sample fractions developed on the thin-layer plate 12 to the front surface side of the thin-layer plate 12. The thickening is executed rapidly if wind is sent to accelerate the volatilization of the eluate 14 arriving at the surface of the thin-layer plate 12.
