Abstract:
To improve detection accuracy by suppressing the influence of dimensional accuracy and assembly accuracy of a roller on detection accuracy.SOLUTION: A thickness detection device comprises: a first roller which has a set of first roller members formed of a soft magnetic material and is fixedly provided in a thickness direction of a paper sheet fed along a conveying path on one side of the conveying path with respect to the thickness direction of the paper sheet; a second roller which is formed of a hard magnetic material and is provided so as to be movable in the thickness direction of the paper sheet at a position facing the first roller across the conveying path; and a magnetic sensor arranged between the set of first roller members. A magnetic flux generated by the second roller forms a closed magnetic circuit passing from the second roller in the order of one first roller member of the set of first roller members, the magnetic sensor, and the other first roller member, and returning to the second roller. The magnetic sensor detects a change in magnetic flux due to the movement of the second roller when the paper sheet passes between the first roller and the second roller.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
