PURPOSE: To prevent any external short circuits of a thin battery so as to improve its stability by covering the entire outer surface of the positive and the negative current collectors of a manganese-lithium-system organic thin battery or the like also serving as terminals by an electric-insulating adhesive tape.
CONSTITUTION: A separator 3 is interposed between metallic lithium 2 used as a negative active material and placed on a negative current collector and terminal 1 made of Ni or similar member and a positive mixture 4 principally composed of MnO2 and placed on a positive current collector and terminal 5 made of a stainless steel containing Mo. Next, the periphery of the thus formed body is sealed with a sealing agent 6 prepared from a maleic-anhydride-denatured polyethylene. After that, the entire outer surface of the terminals 1 and 5 is coated with an adhesive tape 7 consisting of a cellophane tape of similar material thereby constituting a manganese-lithium system organic-electrolyte thin battery. As a result, it is possible to make any external short circuits to hardly occur and to secure the safety for the handling of the battery without increasing its thickness.
