To provide a thin film display device having high luminance and high reliability driven by an active matrix method by increasing the proportion of a thin film light-emitting element in the pixel.

The thin film display device has a thin film display element 9 which is driven by a current to emit light in each pixel and has a silicon thin film layer 2 in which a circuit to drive the thin film display element 9 is formed on a substrate 1. The device has such a structure that it has a region where at least the thin film display element 9 and the silicon thin film layer are formed as overlapped in the film thickness direction and that the light emitted from the thin film display element 9 is partly guided through the overlapped region.
