Title:
THIN FILM MAGNETIC HEAD USING FERRUM-BASED METAL GLASS ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1173615
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a thin film magnetic head equipped with a metal glass alloy core showing ferromagnetism at room temp. and high magnetic permeability as a writing head, and to provide a thin film magnetic head using a metal glass alloy showing an MI (magnetic impedance) effect to detect an external magnetic field.

The magnetic head is equipped with a magnetic impedance(MI) effect element thin film for the detection of an external magnetic field. The MI effect element consists of a Fe-based metal glass alloy having ≥20 °K temp. interval ΔTx of the supercooled liquid expressed by the equation of ΔTx= Tx-Tg, wherein Tx is the initiating temp. of crystallization and Tg is the glass transition temp., and causes changes in the impedance according to an external magnetic field. The metal glass alloy essentially consists of one or more elements of Fe, Co, Ni and contains B and one or more elements of Zr, Nb, Ta, Hf, Mo, Ti, V.
