Title:
THIN FILM MAGNETIC HEAD FOR VERTICAL RECORDING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60136015
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve recording and reading characteristics by making the tip part of a magnetic layer which faces a recording medium thicker than any other part to specific length.

CONSTITUTION: The thin film magnetic head consists of a magnetic layer and a magnetized coil conductor, and the tip part of the magnetic layer facing the recording medium is made thicker than any other part within the range of 5W30μm. For example, S=1 and 10μm, magnetic pole length Tm=0.5W3μm and Tr=3μm, and heat flying height h=0.1μm; and medium film thickness δ Co- Cr=0.5μm and δNiFe=0.5μm, and coil exciting force = 0.3 ampere turn (AT) as to the thin film magnetic head which is in a sectional shape. When S=1μm as a result of the calculation of a recording magnetic field, it is judged that the recording magnetic field distribution expands greatly. Thus, there is an optimum value as the length S of a thin film area-reduced part, and excellent recording and reproducing characteristics are realized when 5<S<30μm.
