Title:
THIN FILM MAGNETIC HEAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60107715
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate the deterioration in recording and reproducing characteristic owing to the stress occurring in the thermal expansion of a resist layer and the damage and breakdown owing to a crash with respect to a thin film magnetic head for a magnetic disc device by removing the part on the transducer of an Al2O3 protective film layer and exposing the resist layer only in said part.

CONSTITUTION: An Al2O3 protective film layer 8 on the top side of a coil part is partly removed on both sides of a pole and a resist layer 5 is exposed. Then the force of the thermal expansion of the layer 5 by the heat generated in the coil 6 can be escaped to the part where the Al2O3 protective film is removed and the projection of the pole on the floating surface side A is eventually extremely decreased by which the deterioration in the characteristic owing to a crash and stress is prevented. The removal of the film 8 is accomplished by a method for masking the part except the part to be removed and performing ion milling.
