Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a TFT liquid crystal display device with respect to an optically compensated bend mode liquid crystal(OCB mode liquid crystal) display device such that the bend alignment in the initial stage of driving can be made uniform in the plane, that the display performance without dependence on the viewing angle which is the characteristic of the OCB mode liquid crystal can be obtained, that the device has fast responding property to respond to fast animated images and that bright image display can be obtained without decreasing the transmissivity for light.
SOLUTION: The device is provided with a means to produce a uniform response rate for bend alignment so as to produce uniform distribution of the response rate for bend alignment in the plane generating after starting to drive. Practically, the means is realized by disposing the conductive connecting parts 8, 8' to supply voltage to the counter electrode more densely near the injection port 12 of the liquid crystal so that steep AC pulses are applied near the injection port to accelerate the bend alignment. As for another means, AC voltage is applied to actively control the distribution of the waveforms of the AC voltage in the plane.
