PURPOSE: To obtain a thin inductor or a thin transformer wherein heat generation due to copper loss is little, and inductance is high, by forming a planar coil by using an insulated wire, and sandwiching both of the surfaces by planar ferromagnetic substances via adhesive layers.
CONSTITUTION: Both surfaces of a planar coil 1 constituted of an insulated wire is sandwiched by planar ferromagnetic substances 3, thereby constituting an inductor between terminals 4a and 4b. The external shape of the planar coil 1 may be circular, rectangular and polygonal. As to the winding form of the planar coil 1, one layer of a spiral type planar coil, its laminate, a multilayered spiral coil, etc., are used. The insulated wire is constituted by coating a copper wire whose section is circular with an insulating layer. By using the above insulated wire, the sectional area of the coil can be made large, and the electric resistance is reduced so that heat generation due to copper loss can be reduced. The insulating film of the insulated wire can be thinly formed, the planar coil can be thinned, and the distance between magnetic films can be reduced, so that high inductance can be obtained.
