PURPOSE: To obtain a new thiophene compound useful as an antipsychotic agent and also as an antianxiety agent, having high affinity to a dopamine acceptor and a serotonin acceptor and low side effects on an extrapyramidal system.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I {R1 and R2 are H, halogen, NO2, NH2, CN, alkyl, COOR3 (R3 is H, alkyl, etc.), alkoxy, alkanoyl, aroyl, etc.; n is 0-2; A is alkylene; T is NHR4 (R4 is heteroarylalkyl which may be hydrogenated), group of formula II or formula III [t is 1-4; R5 is H, OH, alkyl, alkoxy, etc.; Y is CR6R7 (R6 is H, OH, carbamoyl, alkyl, aryl, etc.; R7 is OH, alkyl, aryl, NH2, etc.), NR8 (R8 is alkyl, carbamoyl or aryl), ring Am is 5- to 7-membered ring having amide bond in ring]}. The compound is obtained by reacting a compound of formula IV (Z is OH or reactive group derived from OH) with a compound of the formula H-T.
