To improve a known tread connecting device by loading a gripper pipe flap to 'open a gripper pipe opening' in the inward rotation of a gripper pipe and to 'close the gripper pipe opening' in the outward rotation.
A gripper pipe 25 rotates a gripper pipe opening 27 to the lower side of a tread tensioner in order to carry a lower thread 55 and grasps the lower tread 55 by air force. A control cam 62 arranged on the gripper pipe flap 18 is slid on a control link to load the gripper pipe flap 18 in the direction of 'rotating the gripper pipe flap 18 upward'. The gripper pipe flap 18 is closed again by the upward rotation of the gripper pipe 25 to mechanically fix the lower thread 55, and it takes an upper tread together. When the gripper pipe 25 is rotated down, a spring element 35 additively loads the control cam 62 of the gripper pipe flap 18 by the spring force. Accordingly, the rotating route of the gripper 25 can be regularly surely closed in the downward rotation of the gripper 25.
