PURPOSE: To provide the thread guarding method for a hand spun silk yarn winder which makes strong thread tensile force act on a thread during thread guarding to facilitate the thread guarding having a high success rate.

CONSTITUTION: This is a thread guarding method in a hand spun silk yarn winder which is protrusively provided with bobbin holders 15, 16 at a winding position (a) and a stand-by position (b) so as to be changeable, and has a thread delivering device 20 to advance between both the bobbin holders 15, 16, and a suction gun 27 is used to coil the thread round the bobbin holder 16 at the stand-by position (b) for winding the thread, and the thread is delivered from the bobbin holder 16 at the stand-by position (b) to the bobbin holder 15 at the winding position (a) by the thread delivering device 20 to make thread guarding, and winding and automatic changing over in the state of increased thread tensile force can be carried out.
