In the thread winding device operated so as to repeat the processing of winding a constant amount of thread F fed from a thread feeding device in a specific range C2 in a longitudinal direction of an outer peripheral surface C1 of a bobbin C supported on a bobbin holder B, an excessive thread winding means 101 for winding a thread F portion forming appropriate length from a winding starting end F0 of the thread F fed from the thread feeding device E to a back side on an outer peripheral surface portion C3 forming an outer side of the specific range C2 of the outer peripheral surface of the bobbin B when performing winding of a constant amount of thread F is provided.
