To save ROM capacity by performing normal conversion (accelerator →torque conversion) and inverse conversion (torque → throttle valve opening) by different interpolative calculations, and forming a map used in reciprocal conversion in the same.
A control unit performs reciprocal conversion, but a single three-dimensional data map used in a data converting process is stored by being constituted of an accelerator pedal operation quantity engine speed lattice shaft data in the X, Y axis direction, and target engine torque data in the Z axis direction at respective lattice points. The accelerator pedal operation quantity, an engine speed and a vehicle driving state are read in (S1 to S3), and target engine torque according to the accelerator pedal operation quantity and the engine speed is interpolatively calculated by searching the map (S4). Next, a torque correction value is arithmetically operated according to a vehicle state to arithmetically operate correction target engine torque (S5, S6). Target throttle valve opening according to the correction target engine torque is interpolatively calculated by searching the same map (S7).
