Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable travel over many obstacles such as vertical walls, horizontal walls, and the like, by providing as car wheels inner wheels equipped with a magnetic permeation material portion capable of making rolling movements on an inner peripheral surface of an outer wheel, and providing a magnet to the inner wheel so as to cause its magnetic pole to contact with the magnetic permeation material portion.
CONSTITUTION: A three-dimensional free travel car comprises an outer wheel 21 having an annular peripheral surface portion 22 and a side wall 23 covering both side faces thereof, an inner wheel 25 made of magnetic permeation material and having an outside diameter smaller than an inside diameter of the outer wheel 21 and capable of rolling on an inner peripheral surface of each outer wheel 21, and a magnet 27 mounted to the inner wheel so as to cause its magnetic pole to contact with the inner wheel. The peripheral surface portion 22 of the outer wheel 21 is formed of a magnetic permeation material having magnetism, thereby enhancing propagation of a magnetic field onto a travel surface from the inner wheel 25. By driving of the inner wheel 25 and rolling thereof inside the outer wheel 21, a car wheel unit 20 causes travel of the outer wheel 21. When the outer wheel 21 abuts against a vertical wall, it becomes unable to forwardly move in the horizontal direction, so that the inner wheel 25 ascends along the inner peripheral surface of the outer wheel. A further rotation thereof causes the outer wheel 21 to start making its upward movement on the vertical wall.
