Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable the effective continuous casting by drawing a cast slab in the unsolidified condition from a continuous caster and completing the solidification before reaching a cutting position.
CONSTITUTION: After completing supply of molten steel into a mold for continuous casting, the cast slab cast in the mold is drawn out of the machine end of the continuous caster in the unsolidified condition as it is. Then, the solidification is completed before reaching the cutting position. Further, the slab is drawn from the machine end of the continuous caster at the velocity higher than the max. casting velocity at the time of stationary condition of drawing the cast slab while supplying the molten steel into the mold for continuous casting. By this method, the preparing time for interval between the castings at the time of shifting from the previous heat to the following heat can be shortened. For example, the preparing time for interval between the castings in the case of executing the casting operation plural times by using the continuous caster is 21.2min/time average time and 18min/time the shortest time and shortened by about 4.1min in the average time.
