To provide a method for producing γ-polyglutamic acid (γ-PGA) hydrogel having stable biodegradability and high water absorptivity.
This method for producing γ-PGA hydrogel comprises crosslinking (A) γ-polyglutamic acid (γ-PGA), γ-polyglutamate or a mixture thereof, optionally a polysuccharide containing carboxylic acid group and/or carboxylate group, an amino acid, or a mixture thereof; and/or (B) a culture liquid containing γ-polyglutamic acid (γ-PGA), γ-polyglutamate or a mixture thereof, optionally a polysuccharide containing carboxylic acid group and/or carboxylate group, an amino acid, or a mixture thereof directly with a crosslinking agent containing a compound having three or more functional groups or a mixture of the compound having three or more functional groups and a compound having two functional groups where each of the functional groups is one capable of reacting with a carboxylate group, aldehyde group, hydroxy group, carbonyl group, sulfonic group, amino group, nitro group or mixture thereof.
