PURPOSE: To provide a thrombolic hemostatic agent composed of a water-soluble solvent solution of a condensation product of a carbohydrate and an aromatic aldehyde and capable of easily injecting into a desired vessel with an injection syringe to cause quick and sure coagulation of blood.
CONSTITUTION: A condensation product of a carbohydrate selected from monosaccharides, oligosaccharides and polysaccharides (especially preferably D-sorbitol) and an aromatic aldehyde of formula R1-(CHO)n (R1 is aromatic rind; n is 1 or 2) (preferably benzaldehyde) is dissolved in a water-soluble solvent at a concentration of 0.5-10wt.% (preferably 1-8 wt.%). The water-soluble solvent is e.g. oxygen-containing compound of formula R2-S(=O)-R3, R4-OH, R4-CHO or R3-O-R4, especially preferably dimethyl sulfoxide or ethanol.
